Fedor vs Arlovski on Affliction’s next Fight Card: ‘Day of Reckoning’

Andrei Arlovski will face Fedor Emelianenko for the WAMMA heavyweight championship belt sometime in January . We still don’t know when in January the event will happen but the official date is rumoured to be announced next week.

Golden Boy Promotions will still be involved in the promotion, however Atencio is reported by MMARated.com to have said that the event would feature MMA bouts only.

“We sat down with them and couldn’t come up with a main event boxing match that everyone wanted,” Atencio told MMARated.com.

I think this is a good move as the poll I ran on here, suggests 74% of people don’t want to see boxing, and MMA on the same card.

Arlovski is fresh off his win over Roy Nelson at the co-promoted “EliteXC: Heat” event, between Affliction and EliteXC (more on this). Fedor crushed Tim Sylvia in his last outing so this should make for a great fight.

I would see Fedor winning this fight but that’s a obvious pick and the most logical one, but as we know, logic doesn’t always prevail in MMA.  Could Arlovski pull off the upset? He has the phyisical tools to beat anyone but will he have the mental game to overcome Fedor?

man it would be some awesome if affliction and elite xc could get andre and fedor to fight live on cbs for free. that would be a massive, colossal event in the world of mma. that would defintely put the ufc to shame. i wish it could happen.

This is the real test for both, the true main event.
I’d rather see this than Couture vs. Fedor.

New to affliction, but I’m a huge fan of both Arlovski and Fedor. Should be a great fight. Did you guys hear that they might be closing Elite XC do to bankruptcy. Hope that doesn’t effect Affliction.

Well, it’s final now. Elite XC is done. This means there is only affliction to compete with the UFC (the West doesn’t care about Dream, despite the good fights that happen there). I hope affliction will buy the good fighters from Elite XC (Robbie Lawler, Jake Shields, Nick Diaz, KJ Noons, and some others) so they will have a great lineup other than heavyweights.

Of course, they will have to do it in such a way that they don’t blow out tons of cash. The sport of MMA definitely needs someone other than UFC…

NNNNOooooooo, if i can ask one thing from Affliction, then it would b DONT BRING IN KJ, the guy doesn’t fight, makes excuses to avoid fights, well complaining for more money, if you wanna guy who can shit down a whole division, then KJ’s your guy, but i you want an active, competetive division, then there’s no room for KJ on your roster

Ron I dig the fighters you mentioned, but not to diss affliction and pump the UFC, but hey they have so many great fighters in every weight class. It is a shame that UFC is the only dominating MMA organization but they have so many fighters that are exciting and warriors that the fight cards are giving the fans consistent decent bouts.

I’m waiting for IFL’s Cory Marham to make his debut on a UFC fight night, and I’m really waiting for baby face IFL lightweight Chris Horedeski to enter the UFC or Affliction.

I’ve been waiting for this fight for a long time! Two of the better Sambo fighters around. I think it will be a better fight than most people think. Fedor is a freaking stud, but Arlovski does have the skills to beat him I think. Can’t wait! Fight comes in January….Best fight of the year!!!

Fedor has fought and beat every single top ranked fighter in the world. I’m so glad that finally he is being reconized as such. After the win with Arlovski, and that self absorbed prick fag Dana White, can get off his high horse, then Fedor will come to the UFC and choke out Brock Lesnar till his eyeballs fall out and crush all the other top contenders there…And do it with class..Go FEDOR..YEEEAAAAAAAA!!

Fedor beat Baby Jay? Fedor beat GSP? Fedor beat The Spider? aren’t they top ranked? a better way to prove your point would’ve been to say that Fedor has beat EVERY UFC champion he has faced.
